Pierce Football Wins Conference Title, and Qualifies for Playoffs

On a chilly October evening in front of a home crowd of 2000+ cheering fans, the Brahmas of LA Pierce College did something that has not happened in over 25 years. The Brahmas, facing ultimate adversity, accomplished the unfathomable by beating the Antelope Valley College Marauders 44-41 in the game that would decide the 2009 American Pacific Conference champion. The win not only gave the Brahmas the conference crown, but qualified the team for no less than the #8 seed in the State Playoffs which begin in two weeks. Riding a seven game winning streak, the Brahmas would also move up one slot in the Southern California rankings to #13 and have been slated as the #22 team in the state. This feat was not easily obtained as the Brahmas (7-2, 6-0) had to once again come from behind to defeat the dynamic Marauder football team in what some in attendance called "the best JC football game they had ever seen."
